2021 AJT Montgomery Glen Junior Open
Alberta Golf (Wetaskiwin) – By Dunc Mills
The busiest week of the summer on the McLennan Ross Alberta Junior Tour continued today at Montgomery Glen GC in Wetaskiwin. Host Professional John Wilson and his team always put on a superb junior golf tournament, having been on the Tour since its second year in 1997. When you combine a very junior-friendly club environment with terrific organization and one of the best post-competition meals of the year, it’s no wonder that the Montgomery Glen event is so popular.
We had 40 juniors on hand this morning for a 9 a.m. shotgun start, including 12 junior girls. What a treat to continue to see the strong interest in the Tour from so many young girls. Emma Liu of Jagare Ridge GC in Edmonton was best today, with an 81, five shots clear of Kali Yeske of Valley Ridge GC in Calgary and both players earned spots in the Tour Championship coming up at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on August 30th with their play today.
In the junior boys division, Leduc’s Kye Fisher took down his second Tour win in the last ten days, coming on the heels of his win last Monday at RedTail Landing GC. Fisher fired a steady 1-over par 73 today, two shots clear of Devin Kucy of Camrose. Reid Williamson of Olds was solo third with a 76, with Becker Gilewich and Kohan Yeske of Valley Ridge (Kali’s older brother) T4 with matching 77s.
