Alberta Golf (Medicine Hat) –

What we lacked in size, we more than made up for in enthusiasm.  While we only had  a dozen players in attendance this morning at Desert Blume GC in Medicine Hat, the players that were on hand were treated to a VERY challenging golf course in fantastic condition. If these weren’t the fastest greens on Tour this summer, I’m not sure which ones would have been. Plus we had the omnipresent southern Alberta winds kick up to make it even  more fun!

Ethan Meyer of Land O’Lakes GC in Coaldale made his trip over to the ‘Hat very worthwhile as he toured the gorgeous fairways and navigated his way around numerous penalty areas in a tidy 83 shots, four strokes clear of Jaden McIntyre of Lethbridge CC. Meyer and McIntyre had both previously qualified for this Friday’s Tour Championship, but new qualifying spots were earned today by Brady Deboice of Riverview GC in Redclifff from the flight for boys born in 2000-02, Jacob Dorton of the host club from the flight for boys born in 2003-04, and youngster Josh Burzminski of the Medicine Hat GCC from the flight for boys born in 2005 and later.

Full marks to the kids today who did show up to compete. This was the Tour’s first year at Desert Blume and we hope  to build on today’s event going forward to make this into one of the top junior tournaments  in southern Alberta. We will be back for sure!

One final event on the 2019 Tour regular season remains as we move to Nanton tomorrow for the Last Chance Saloon, aka the Nanton Junior Open.  From what we understand, we have a good field of players registered for their last chance to earn their way into the field for Wolf Creek and also enjoy more junior golf  before school starts next week.
