Ackroyd, Choi & Graf lead Alberta Junior Championship after round 1

Alberta Golf (High River) – Defending provincial junior girls champion Annabelle Ackroyd has picked up where she left off last summer. Ackroyd won the 2018 Alberta Junior and Juvenile Championships at Coyote Creek Golf and RV Resort and shot an even par 70 Tuesday at Highwood Golf in High River for a one shot lead at this year’s Alberta Junior Girls Championship with 3 rounds to go.

On the boys side Ethan Choi and Carter Graf both shot 3 under 67 in the same group for a one shot lead.

Highwood Golf is proud to see players test their skill on the renovated par 3 6th hole along the river. Ethan de Graaf pulled off his first ever competitive hole-in-one on the 6th hole Tuesday during a rollercoaster round of 2 over 72.

Cooper Lindberg has a 2 shot lead in the Juvenile Boys Championship while Kaitlyn Wingnean leads the Juvenile Girls Championship by 3 strokes.

Many of this week’s competitors are competing with an eye on their upcoming University golf careers. Ethan Choi and Carter Graf not only lead the boys division, they are also potential future teammates at NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina while girls leader Annabelle Ackroyd is off to the University of Minnesota this fall.
